Brynn, the Moss-Kissed Gargoyle

By day, Brynn keeps her silent watch from the stone where she rests. Like all gargoyles, she is sworn to stillness beneath the sun, her quiet guard woven into the bones of the buildings she protects. Most pass beneath her without ever noticing.
Children, however, know better.
When the grown folk aren’t looking, Brynn sometimes winks. Just once. Quick as a blink of sunlight. Other times a tiny flower might appear at the base of her perch, or a tuft of moss where there was none before. Little things. Quiet games meant only for the sharp-eyed and soft-hearted.
When night finally settles and the rooftops fall silent, Brynn stretches her small wings and climbs down from her watch. She wanders the old stone, tending the walls and gutters as gargoyles have done for centuries. Moss is her favorite tool. She tucks it carefully into deep cracks and worn places, softening the sharp edges of the world one patch at a time.
By morning she is stone again, perched exactly where she was.
But if you look closely.. you might catch a wink, or a bloom where there wasn't one before.
